Biographical Notes

Temperley, S. J., M.I.Min.E. Area General Manager, No. 1 Area, Durham Division, National Coal Board since October, 1952. Worked with Barber Walker & Co., Ltd. On Vesting Day, became No. 4 Area Deputy General Manager, and Production Manager when Area re-organisation took place in March, 1948. Member of the National Association of Colliery Managers. Author of a paper on Problems Affecting Locomotive Haulage in Area Re-Organisation, and co-author of papers on Deepening a Mine Shaft and Prevention of Spontaneous Combustion.
