Biographical Notes
Sheppard, W. V., M.I.Min.E. Area General Manager, No. 1 Area, East Midlands Division, National Coal Board since 1948. Born in 1909, attended Cheltenham College from 1924-1928, and took a B.Sc. (Mining) Honours degree at Birmingham University in 1931. From 1938-1947, was Manager of Rufford Colliery. On Nationalisation, was appointed Mining Development Engineer in No. 4 Area, of the Board's East Midlands Division.
