Biographical Notes
Potts, S. W., B.Sc.(Mining). Area General Manager, No. 2 Area, Durham Division, National Coal Board. Born in Edinburgh in 1912, served his apprenticeship under the Mickley Coal Co. and Backworth Collieries Ltd. From 1936-43 was manager of the Rising Sun Colliery, Wallsend, and in 1947 became Sub-Area Manager, No. 1 Area, Northern Division. From 1950-53 was Planning and Development Engineer. Northern Division, in 1954 was appointed Production Manager, No. 1 Area and from 1956-59 became Deputy Production Manager (Planning), Durham Division.
