Mayhew, Geoffrey Dixon, J.P. Born 1886. Educated, Eton, 1900-05. Wigan Mining College, 1908-10. Senior Partner in the firm of Mayhew & Mayhew. Mining Engineers. Tamworth, Staffs., with extensive experience in British and Canadian coalfields. Chairman and Managing Director, Hall's Collieries Ltd., Swadlincote. Chairman, South Derbyshire Colliery Owners' Association. Director and Technical Adviser, Amalgamated Anthracite Collieries Ltd. Director. Henderson's Welsh Anthracite Collieries Ltd., and New Blaenhirwaun Anthracite Collieries Ltd. Director and Technical Adviser, Newdigate Colliery (1914) Ltd. Director, Somorrostro Iron Ore Co. Ltd. Member of the Central Valuation Board (Coal Act), 1938. and East Midland Regional Valuation Board. One of the Arbitrators of the North Staffordshire District (Coat Mines) Scheme, 1930. Member of Council of Midland Counties Institute of Mining Engineers. Member of National Association of Colliery Managers. Member of various committees, including Coal Mines Act Committee of the Mining Association of Great Britain. Private Address: Bonehill Lodge, Tamworth, Staffordshire.

Biographical Notes

McGilvray, Sir William, C.B.E. Director-General of Marketing, National Coal Board. Educated at Greenock Academy. Formerly was Director of Inland and Coastwise Sales, of Powell Duffryn Ltd., and Management Director of Stephenson Clarke Ltd. From 1939-1942, served as Deputy to Lord Hyndley in the Coal Division of the Mines Department.
