Vice-chairman of the Northumberland Coal Owner's Association. Formerly in practice as Mining Engineer. Has done work in Mexico, Newfoundland, Austria Hungary. Engaged in the Dover Coalfield. Formerly Director of Cwmaman Colliery, South Wales. Acted as Consulting Engineer for Burradon & Coxlodge Coal Co. Ltd., Northumberland. Acted for the Birtley Iron Co., Co. Durham, and others.
