Biographical Notes
Lawson, A. R., O.B.E. Area General Manager, No. 2 Area, Northern (N. & C.) Division, National Coal Board since February, 1953. Formerly a Director, Wallsend and Hebburn Coal Co., Ltd. On Nationalisation, was appointed General Manager of No. 7 Area of the Board's Northern Division. which became No. 1 Area when the new Northern (N. & C.) Division was formed on January 1st, 1950. Worked for two years in the Pittsburg coal-field and visited collieries in Holland and Germany on three occasions. Member of the North of England Institute of Mining and Mechanical Engineers and a Member of the British Institute of Mining and Mechanical Engineers.
