Biographical NotesLewis, Lt. Col. G. A. J.P. for the County of Derbyshire. Chairman of the Whitwick Colliery Co., Director of the Wollaton Colliery Co. Ltd., and other companies. Born in 1869, and educated at Derby School (Scholar) and at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge. Scholar, graduated 14th Wrangler in 1891. M.A., 1892. After leaving Cambridge joined his father in the profession of Mining Engineer, and is now head of the firm of Lewis & Lewis, Derby. Served in France from 1914 to 1916, for a portion of the time commanding the 5th Sherwood Foresters. Was mentioned in despatches, and awarded the C.M.G. Is Secretary of the National Association of Colliery Managers and President of the Midland Counties Institution of Mining Engineers. Is a member of the Board for Mining Examinations.
