Biographical NotesGuthrie, Reginald. Born at Gateshead, 1855. Educated Grammar School, Newcastle-on-Tyne. Served 15½ years on staff of Tyne Improvement Commissioners; Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries ; Associate Member of the Institution of Mining Engineers, and of the North of England Institute of Mining and Mechanical Engineers; Secretary of Northumberland and Durham Coal Owners' Associations (appointed 1888). Member of the Council, Central Committee, Finance and other Committees of the Mining Association of Great Britain. Is also Secretary of various other Colliery Associations and Treasurer of the North of England Institute of Mining and Mechanical Engineers.
