Biographical NotesEssame, Gerald, O.B.E., B.A. Staff Director, West Midlands Division, National Coal Board since 1955. Born in 1912, and educated at Magnus School, Newark, and Selwyn College, Cambridge, In 1947 was Head of the Board's Scientific Department Secretariat and in 1951 was Secretary of Productivity Team on Coal Mining which visited the United States. Was Head of Education Branch, Manpower and Welfare Department and later was appointed Director of Studies of the Staff College.
