Member, The Central Council and Central Committee of the Mining Association of Gt. Britain, The Joint National Negotiating Committee, and Lancashire & Cheshire Joint Wages Board. Past-President, The Lancashire & Cheshire Coal Association. Member of the National Coal Board, Regional Coal Board (North West Area), Safety in Mines Research Board, Lancashire & Cheshire Coal Owners' Rescue Station, The Governing Body — Wigan Mining & Technical College, and Board of Management of the Lancashire & Cheshire Miners' Permanent Relief Society Address.
