Biographical Notes

Edwards, Charles. M.P. for the Bedwelty Division of Monmouth. Has represented the Division since 1918. On the Speakers' panel, temporary Chairman of the House when in Committee. Appointed Whip, 1925. Chief Whip. 1931. Lord Commissioner to the Treasury 1929. Advisory Agent for Bedwelty Division. Was a miner at Risca Colliery for 20 years and a checkweighier for nine years. Later he was for six years Miners' Agent for the Tredegar Valley. He is a J.P., and was member of the County Council. Private Address: Stafford House, Gelli Crescent, Risca, Mon.

Biographical Notes

Edwards, Charles. M.P. for the Bedwelty Division of Monmouth. Has represented the Division since 1918. On the Speaker's panel for several years, and presided over the House when in Committee. Appointed Welsh Whip, 1925. and Chief Whip, 1931. A Lord Commissioner to the Treasury, 1929. He was for many years a miner at Risca Colliery, and later a checkweigher at Nine Mile Point Colliery. Later became Miners' Agent for the Tredegar Valley. He is a J.P., and was member of the County Council. Received the C.B.E., 1929, and was created a Knight Bachelor, 1935. Private Address: 5, Gelli Crescent, Risca, Mon.
