Biographical Notes

Chiverton, Ernest Leonard, Vice-Chairman and Production Director, South-Eastern Division, National Coal Board. In 1939, became Mining Agent to the Mickley Coal Company. Three years later was appointed the Ministry of Fuel and Power's Production Director for Northumberland and from 1944 until 1947, Deputy Production Director for Great Britain. Has been Production Director of the South-Eastern Division of the National Coal Board since nationalisation. Member of the Institution of Mining Engineers, and led the Anglo-American Productivity Team on Coal Mining which visited the United States in 1951.
