Chairman of Committee of Enquiry. Has rendered signal service to the coal industry. Born 1868. Eldest son of second Baron Chelmsford. Educated Winchester, and Magdalen College, Oxford. Alderman, L.C.C., 1913. Created Viscount, 1921. First Lord of the Admiralty in Labour Government. Was for a time Chairman, Royal Commission on Mining Subsidence.
