Biographical Notes
Charrington, John. Chairman of Charrington, Gardner, Locket & Co., Coal Merchants, and of Association of Private Owners of Railway Rolling Stock. Born in 1856. Educated at Haileybury, and Trinity College, Cambridge. He obtained his training with F. Green & Co., Shipbrokers, etc. He held the position of Honorary Secretary, Treasurer, and, finally, Chairman of the Society of Coal Merchants, London, from 1895-1915.
