Biographical NotesBaker, R. G., C.B.E. Deputy Chairman, North-Eastern Division, National Coal Board. Educated at Leys School, Cambridge, and Sheffield University. From 1934-36, Manager of Rotherham Main Colliery, and in 1938 became Manager, Elsecar Colliery. Appointed Assistant General Manager of Earl Fitzwilliam Collieries in 1944, then General Manager from 1946 to nationalisation. Became Deputy Area General Manager and subsequently Production Manager, of the newly formed Rotherham No. 3 Area, and in 1948, became Area General Manager. In 1951, was Acting Production Director of the North-Eastern Division.
