Biographical NotesAnderton, James, Area General Manager, St. Helens Area, North-Western Division, National Coal Board since September, 1949. Member of the Institute of Mining Engineers. In 1942, appointed Agent and Manager of Clock Face Colliery, St. Helens, and on nationalisation in 1947 became Assistant Agent in the St. Helens Area. Later, appointed Agent, then Acting-Area Production Manager.
Biographical NotesAnderton, James, O.B.E. Joint Deputy Chairman, Scottish Division, National Coal Board. Previously was Area General Manager, St. Helens Area, North-Western Division. In 1942, appointed Agent and Manager of Clock Face Colliery, St. Helens, and on nationalisation in 1947 became Assistant Agent in the St. Helens Area. Later, appointed Agent, then Acting-Area Production Manager. Mainly responsible for developing the Anderton Disc Shearer, one of the most promising of the new power-loading machines, able to operate in difficult natural conditions where other power-loading machinery is impracticable.
