Biographical NotesAllan, J. K., M.A., B.Sc. Chief Geologist, National Coal Board. Educated at Peterhead Academy and Aberdeen University. Became Assistant to the Professor of Zoology, Aberdeen University in 1921 joined the Geological Survey in 1922 and served as Geologist, Senior Geologist and Principal Geologist specializing in coal-field geology until coming to the National Coal Board in 1947. Member of the Geological Societies of London and Edinburgh and of the Geologists' Association, and a Professional Member of the Institution of Mining Engineers.
