Thompson, Robert, aged 52, Clay Digger, Deceased at completion of his shift, and after the other men had left the quarry, ascended to a ledge 7 feet or 8 feet high to get his jacket. According to the evidence he suffered from a weak heart, and had within the previous hour complained of a feeling of dizziness. Apparently he had a recurrence of this dizziness, and had fallen from the ledge whilst in that state, as there was nothing in the condition of the quarry to account for the accident [Inspection made]

Turnbull, William Charlton, aged 28, Labourer, Deceased was working in a clay pit not 20 feet deep, therefore the accident does not come under the Quarries Act. A mass of clay amounting to about 1 ton fell from a face 14 feet deep, relieved by a crack, the existence of which was known. Deceased had been warned by a fellow workman to stand clear, as it was not safe. He took a shovel and tried to lever it down at the side, and jumped in the wrong direction when it fell, (accident: 15 Aug 1905)

Tyson, John, aged 44, Miner, this man fired a shot in the side of the working; on looking at the result a piece of rock fell off the side onto him; if he had examined the place properly after firing the shot, the accident would not have occurred, as his mate at the inquest admitted they both knew this piece of rock to be bad before firing the shot, and they were in a hurry to get their metal out, and being near holiday time they wished to get as much money as possible
