Richardson, John, aged 55, Quarryman, Some stone fell from the face just above where he was working and injured one of his feet so severely that amputation was necessary. Died the following day., (accident: 10 May 1899)

Richardson, William, aged 19, Labourer, A piece of clay, weighing 15 or 20 cwt., suddenly slipped from the face and caught deceased, who was at work in the quarry bottom. The quarry was only 8 feet deep at that point, and the place had been examined by an official, who considered it perfectly safe [Inspection made & inquest attended]

Rigg, Robert Mason, aged 55, Labourer, deceased and two other workmen were engaged in getting clay; they had undercut to a depth of 18 inches, and had then made a nick with a spade in the top and poured water therein with the object of making the clay fall over; unfortunately about 10 minutes before the dinner hour, the ground fell and caught deceased

Rogers, Joseph, aged 46, Engineman, While deceased was working at a windmill pump he stood on an 11-inch plank which he himself had fixed about 7½ feet above a ledge in the quarry. He slipped and fell off the plank, and his head came in contact with a wooden water box and his skull was fractured and he never recovered consciousness. The plank fell with him as it was not nailed or firmly secured at either end, (accident: 22 Aug 1904)

Rothery, William, aged 60, [Not employed - farmer], was found dead at the bottom of a well 30 feet deep, from which water was pumped to Harrington Colliery [fatality reported during the year but not classified as a colliery accident]
