Jackson, John, aged 38, Miner, after firing two shots in their working places, deceased and his mate had their breakfast; on returning to the working a short time afterwards deceased's mate heard the timber crack and shouted to him to come out of his place a short time until it settled, Jackson replied that it was all right, immediately the whole place collapsed burying the deceased

Johnson, William, of Lindale, he was killed by a small stone falling on his head when at the foot of the starn in a mine pit of iron ore, Buried: Pennington

Johnson, William, aged 68, Wasteman, He received a small cut on the leg, but of so slight a nature that he finished his shift, walked a mile to the pit bottom, and another mile home. He was afterwards attended by a doctor for a few days, and then by another, who treated him for bronchitis. On his death, as the result of a post-mortem, the latter doctor certified that the man had died from weak action of the heart, accelerated by chronic bronchitis [fatality reported during the year but not classified as a colliery accident]
