Hutchinson, Christiana, aged 4, [Not employed], On the afternoon of Saturday 13th March, Christiana Hutchinson, aged 4, was knocked down and "completely cut to pieces by five loaded coke trucks, which were being drawn up Page Bank incline. The trucks, which are drawn by a standing engine at the bank road, were about 150 yards from the top of the incline when the man who was riding on the front end observed the child suddenly make her appearance on the line, but he was unable to either attract her attention or get her out of the way. The child was on a visit to her grandfather, whose house is close by ; and had strayed on the line." |
