Gallagher, Anthony, aged 21, Quarryman, deceased was working at the foot of the quarry face, when a fall of overburden occurred, burying him; the face had probably been loosened by heavy rain, and the overburden should have been slanted or cut back

Gallon, James, aged 37, Miner, was walking along the branch railway near to Springwell Colliery when he was run over by the waggons, and received severe injuries, from which he shortly afterwards died

Gardiner, Thomas, aged 11, in attempting to stop a laden coal tub had his head jammed between it and the last tub of the set which was standing on the rolley way, he died instantly [date of inquest]

Gardner, Edward, aged 56, Navvy, While deceased was clearing up the rails in a clay quarry to get the bogie to the face a mass of clay, weighing from 1½ to 2 tons, fell suddenly from the face of work, 10 or 12 feet above the rails, and knocked him against the bogie. The weather had been wet for most of the two days previous to the accident.

Graham, George, aged 27, Hewer, After firing a shot in the roof, the deceased began dressing the loose stone, when a large stone fell on to him. An examination showed that the stone had fallen from between "slips," which were not noticed until after the fall [Inspection made & inquest attended]

Graham, Mary, aged 7, [Not employed], died in the infirmary from injuries received on the Bedlington Colliery Railway; she was swinging on the coupling chains of a truck, when the engine joined the trucks and ran over her legs [fatality reported during the year but not classified as a colliery accident]

Guthrie, Edward, aged 60, Stoneman, While deceased was dressing stone in a shed at the quarry, he commenced to vomit blood, he moved away to a joiner's bench, where he was found by another workmen and died almost immediately. An inquest was held, and a verdict returned that death was due to haemorrhage of the lungs
