Bainbridge, George Cuthbert, aged 23, Hewer, Severely crushed by fall of coal. Died on December 3rd., (accident: 30 Nov 1893)

Bainbridge, John Joseph, aged 18, [Not employed], A staple was being sunk from the surface and was about 22 feet down. This and another youth were passing the place, and out of curiosity pulled the boards up that were covering the top of the staple. Deceased got into the loop and was lowered down; there had been some stythe in the bottom of the staple and he was overcome by it, and when got out was quite dead.

Barass, John William, aged 16, he was killed while riding and engine to Shotton on Monday 4th July. He was warned by the driver that he was not allowed on, so he got down ; an hour later he was found lying dead on the line. It was thought that he had tried to get on the coal waggons after leaving the engine, and had slipped and been run over, Buried: St. Saviour's Churchyard, Shotton Colliery;

Barnes, Rhoda, [Not employed], was picking coal on the Heworth Branch Railway, near Gateshead, when she was knocked down by the waggons, and was so injured that she died shortly after admittance to the infirmary

Bayliss, Daniel, aged 57, Labourer, While attempting to put a bogie on the way, on an incline, he slipped over the side and fell a distance of 30 or 40 feet and was killed

Beardwell, George, aged 41, Quarryman, supposed to have been thawing some "stonite" in a cabin, when it exploded, causing injuries which terminated fatally in a few hours

Bell, Arthur, aged 32, Horse Driver, he had been riding on the front buffer of two trucks, and when coming to a bridge where there is no room for a man to stand at one side, he jumped off, and was crushed so severely that he died within a few minutes

Bell, George Anderson, aged 42, Assistant traffic manager, knocked down by wagons which were being shunted; there was a strong wind blowing at the time

Bracken, Peter, aged 28, He was killed whilst trespassing on the Burnhope and Craghead Railway. When Bracken attempted to board an empty truck to get a ride to his work at Burnhope Colliery, he slipped and was run over and died instantly. The set of trucks was hauled by a rope and travelled at about five miles per hour.

Brun, Morris, aged 40, Miner, firing of shot ; the deceased was charging a shot hole with blasting powder, when it exploded, inflicting injuries from which he died in half an hour ; it is probable deceased's candle, which was stuck on a bottle, fell over on to the powder, and ignited the powder which was in the shot hole, which lifted its burden and struck the deceased
