Entombed Miners Rescued
After being entombed in the Kimblesworth Colliery, Co. Durham, since 9 o'clock on Tuesday morning, two local miners. Matthew Howard and William Collins, were rescued shortly before 2 a.m. yesterday. They had been cut off by a fall of roof in which a workmate, Robert Atkinson, 19, a coal cutter, of Sacriston, was killed. Rescue parties worked through to the imprisoned men. Four times when they had almost got through further falls occurred.
