A coal-cutting machineman was killed at Burnmoor "D" Colliery, Durham. An electrically-driven arcwall coal-cutting machine was being flitted under power along a level roadway 12 feet wide and five feet high. To ensure the machine taking a ten-foot radius curve the machineman was leaning with his back against a short wooden prop which he was using as a lever when he slipped and fell beneath the machine.
