Description

At Mainsforth Colliery, Durham, an experienced putter was riding on the limbers of his pony which was bringing one full tub outbye from a broken working along a level roadway nine feet wide. It was surmised that he struck his head against a girder 3 ft. 6 in. above rail level and only 2½ inches above the top of the tub.
