Description

Deceased was attempting to uncouple some full tubs, which were in motion, before they had run down to the usual position; his head caught against a "knock-off," projecting from the roof to detach the set automatically, and he fell between the tubs; the tubs were stopped within a distance of 6 feet, but his skull was fractured. A verdict of "accidental death" was recorded; the family income consisted of the following: the deceased, a 16 year old rope lad, at 15s 8p; his father, a deputy £2 16s 2p; Mother 40 years old; Sister 19 years and a packer 13s. younger sisters were aged 14,11,8, and 1 year old; a claim was made by the father and the owners offered £58 which was accepted by the Lodge Committee
