Description

Along with his partner he was driving a split, leaving about 10 feet of stone next the goaf. After firing a shot near the end of his shift, he examined his place and found some stone at the goaf side was bad, and he remarked he would get it down when the full waggon went out. He thought further that the solid side of the place was giving and went to seek the Deputies to prop the balk ends. He told the Deputies to keep away from the goaf side as the stone was bad, and almost immediately afterwards went between that side and the waggon. Just then there was a burst of stone which put all their lights out. On getting a light the Deputies found a lot of stone had come off the side about half--way up the seam, and falling on Huntley had killed him
