Deceased, who had worked 4 months underground and had acted as a driver for 6 weeks, left a flat sitting on the limbers of a pony drawing two full tubs. The road rose slightly outbye. He was found seriously injured about the head lying across the road behind his set to which the pony was still hung on and the tubs on the rails. There were props supporting crowns by the side of the road and within a few inches of the tub, and it was surmised he had allowed his head to project, possibly he had been looking back to see if the putters had come out, and was caught. The road was in good order. The Local Inspectors reported, after reciting the facts, "In our opinion the injury has been purely accidental. The boy getting his head bruised between tub side and timber but no certain evidence to show how it was done."
