Description

Another accident occurred at Dean and Chapter Colliery, belonging to Messrs. Bolckow, Vaughan & Co., Limited, and resulted in the death of a doorboy. Sets of 14 tubs were being lowered out-bye by a rope attached to a small drum. A door opening in-bye had been placed across the road, and deceased attended to it. He opened it on this occasion and allowed the first two tubs of a set to pass through ; then, for some unexplained reason, he allowed the door to fall to, when it came in contact with the third tub, was jerked violently back, and struck him.
