No. 246 on the list occurred at Westerton Colliery, belonging to Messrs. Bolckow, Vaughan & Co., Limited, and caused the death of a hewer. The place was timbered to within 3½ feet of the face, and the roof was said to have sounded hard and true. It is a roof comparatively free from slips, but in this case one occurring caused the stone to fall.
