No. 2 on the Cleveland Mines list occurred at the Lofthouse Mines, where William Collins was killed by a premature explosion of a shot; he is supposed to have lighted the squib instead of the slow match as he had finished the stemming, and drawn out the needle or pricker, and there was consequently nothing then to disturb the charge.
