Blaydon Main ; an explosion took place with one of the deputies, who most incautiously went into the face of an old headway, standing at a fault with a naked light, although he had a safety lamp at hand. The explosion was of a very limited nature, but the place being unventilated, and the seam low, he was so severely burnt that he died in a few days, fully acknowledging that his misfortune was attributable entirely to his own want of reflection.
