Description

Inquest: On the 12th instant, before Mr. W. Stoker, coroner, on the body of Fenwick Morton, a pitman at North Elswick Colliery. On the 13th November last, after putting his leg into a thigh loop, he attempted to put the loop into the hook which was hanging over the pit’s mouth, but missed the hook, and fell down the pit. His legs were both broken, and he was taken to the Infirmary, where (after having had one leg taken off) he lingered until the 11th instant, when he died. Verdict — Accidental death.
