Local Records1742January 28. — The wind, which had been boisterous for some days, rose on the evening of this day to a tempest, with dreadful thunder and lightning. It being spring tide, the strong current of the River Tyne broke loose several of the ships at Shields, which did great damage both to the ships and keels. [LRS]
