Oughterside Colliery

Miscellaneous Notes and Incidents

At Oughterside Colliery, Cumberland, during coal winding, the rope broke 251 feet from the full cage which had been raised about 300 feet from the shaft bottom. The breakage appears to have been due to excessive wear and corrosion.
