1924

Company Notes

Registered – February 2, 1917, to acquire from J. A Forster, the Receiver of the Flimby and Broughton Moor Coal and Fire-Brick Co., Ltd, and W. H. Nockolds, the following properties, viz.. (1) a leasehold colliery at Flimby, Cumberland, known as the New Risehow and Watergate Pits, with mining rights under nearly 7,000 acres of land and sea, and a surface area of about 130 acres; (2) a plot of freehold land with minerals thereunder, area 6¼ acres, upon which are erected a battery of 40 coke ovens and by-product plant; (3) a leasehold colliery known as the "Alice Pits" at Linefoot ; (4) a leasehold colliery known as the "Bertha Pit," at Broughton Moor, with plant and machinery thereon; (5) freehold brickworks, cottages, &c., area 15 acres.

Capital – £160,000, in 120,000 eight per cent. cumulative preference and 35,000 ten per cent, participating preferred ordinary shares of £1 each, and 50,000 deferred ordinary shares of 2s. each; 112,340 eight per cent. cumulative preference and all the ten per cent, participating preferred ordinary and deferred ordinary shares are issued and fully paid. Increased from £100,000 to present amount in December, 1918, by creation of a further 60,000 cumulative preference shares, making 120,000, which were offered to shareholders at par.

Debentures – £125,000.

Dividends – For 1917-18, 7 per cent. on pref. ord.; 1918-19, 15 5/6 on pref. ord. and 1s. on deferred; 1919-20, nil; 1920-21, 10 per cent. on pref. ord., nil on def. The cumulative preference dividend has been paid to August 31, 1921.

Accounts – For thirteen months ended March 31, 1921, submitted in Leeds July 20, 1921, showed a profit of £27,838, making with £8,558 brought forward a sum of £36,397, out of which preference dividends were paid. No later accounts received.
