| | | | | | | Biggins, Thomas, 30 May 1906, aged 49, Shifter, Deceased during his first shift in the pit took ill and died in a few minutes. There was no suggestion of any accident. He had complained during the shift of a pain in his chest. An inquest was held and medical evidence given that death was due to natural causes, most probably heart disease, and so the jury found. |
| | | | | | | Blackburn, Thomas, 30 Dec 1913, aged 39, Hewer, it was alleged at the inquest that deceased had received a wound in the head, resulting from a falling stone; no accident was reported to the colliery officials; the verdict was to the effect that deceased had received a blow on the head whilst following his employment, and that he died from cutaneous erysipelas followed by cellulitis and blood poisoning |
