Biggins, Thomas, 30 May 1906, aged 49, Shifter, Deceased during his first shift in the pit took ill and died in a few minutes. There was no suggestion of any accident. He had complained during the shift of a pain in his chest. An inquest was held and medical evidence given that death was due to natural causes, most probably heart disease, and so the jury found.

      

Blackburn, Thomas, 30 Dec 1913, aged 39, Hewer, it was alleged at the inquest that deceased had received a wound in the head, resulting from a falling stone; no accident was reported to the colliery officials; the verdict was to the effect that deceased had received a blow on the head whilst following his employment, and that he died from cutaneous erysipelas followed by cellulitis and blood poisoning

Nichols, William, 26 Aug 1912, aged 60, Shifter, deceased was renewing a crossing plank at the junction of a cross heading and gateway, when the fall occurred; death was due to asphyxia

      

Young, George, 06 Dec 1910, aged 35, Hewer, killed by a fall of stone
