Gill, John, 14 Jan 1897, aged 44, Labourer, Deceased was clearing refuse from a cutting when a loose boulder, weighing about a ton, and which had been embedded amongst the debris, rolled out and caught him. The place had been officially inspected twice during the shift, but nothing dangerous was detected [Inspection made & inquest attended]

      

Irving, David, 27 Aug 1908, aged 23, Pumpman, his head was caught by the spur wheels, and the presumption is that he was oiling the machinery while in motion

      

Millican, Thomas, 12 Jan 1886, Miner, using a squib to fire a shot with; instead of applying his light to the slow match, he ignited the powder in the squib; the shot immediately went off, inflicting injuries from which he died

      

Robinson, Joseph, 08 Jan 1908, aged 39, Miner, fall of hanging side in a vein 6 feet wide and partly timbered

      

Tabberer, James William, 09 Oct 1903, aged 21, Fitter, While engaged below a locomotive engine, removing the crank pin, a splinter of iron flew and destroyed one of his eyes. He was at once attended by a doctor, who removed the splinter from the eye. The same night he was put under chloroform by two doctors and the eye removed. The operation was nearly over when he collapsed and died.

      

Tabberer, John, 27 Jan 1899, (accident: 11 Jan 1899), aged 16, Blacksmiths Apprentice, He was assisting his father to fit a new cast-iron wheel on a shaft. The former was driving in the key when the wheel split and one half fell on deceased's toe. Tetanus supervened and he died on the 27th January [Inspection made & inquest attended]
