By some means his leg got under the wheel, and he received injuries from which he died on the 4th inst [Inspection made & inquest attended]

Carter, Thomas, 23 Mar 1898, aged 40, Miner, Struck by a stone projected from a shot in an adjoining working. The usual signal to fire was given, but deceased thought he was in a safe position and did not move from his own working place [Inspection made & inquest attended]

Cox, Samuel, 11 Nov 1885, aged 23, Miner, a protruding rib of rock on the hanging side from both sides of which the ore had been removed, had had one shot in it which partly removed it ; it was intended to fire another shot, and deceased and his mate were preparing for this when the rock fell upon him

Cox, Samuel, 08 Jun 1888, aged 53, Miner, struck on head by prop ; deceased and his mate were engaged getting timber down a rise ; deceased went down into the rise to see that it was clear for the wood to pass down, when his mate fancied he heard Cox shout "throw away" ; he immediately threw a prop down the rise, which struck deceased on the head, killing him instantly

Coyne, Charles, 07 Jul 1889, (accident: 14 Jun 1889), aged 45, Miner, fall of roof ; whilst baring a piece of stone from the roof, it fell on deceased, causing injuries from which he died

Haines, Sydney, 23 Feb 1893, 10:30 a.m., 5th hour of shift, aged 44, Miner, This man lost his life through his own carelessness. A company of men were engage d blasting rock some distance above the drift where the deceased was working. He and his mate were warned that a shot was about to be fired, but instead of retiring to a place of safety, they took no notice of the warning, and continued to work. On the shot exploding, the rock fell upon the timbers in their working places, knocking them out, killing deceased [Inspection made & inquest attended]

Hartley, Isaac, 13 Mar 1883, aged 31, Miner, killed by a fall of rock [More information ...]

King, Alfred, 06 Jul 1893, 12:30 p.m., 3rd hour of shift, aged 28, Miner, Fall of rock. Some pieces of rock fell from the roof and sides of the working place on to the deceased, causing injuries which terminated fatally in a few minutes. It was elicited at the inquest that no examination haul been made by any official either during this or the preceding shift. Had this been done, the accident might have been averted [Inspection made & inquest attended]

Morcom, Reginald, 24 Sep 1892, 8:30 a.m., 3rd hour of shift, aged 19, Locomotive Stoker, Although provided with a coupling stick, he went under the buffers of some moving waggons to uncouple them, and when coming out again he was caught by the wheel of the following waggon [Inspection made & inquest attended]

Mylchreest, Thomas, 09 Jul 1900, aged 30, Miner, The working place was a vein deposit, about 7 feet wide, bounded by limestone sides. The place was timbered close up to the face with larch headtrees and 5 or 6 feet of debris thereon; but a huge slice of the "hanging" side suddenly collapsed, and smashed in the whole drift, burying up three men, two of whom, strange to relate, were got out practically uninjured. [Inspection made & inquest attended]

Richards, John, 13 Mar 1883, aged 36, Miner, killed by a fall of rock [More information ...]

Shaw, Nicholas, 14 Jan 1887, aged 18, Trailer, the deceased got into the cage at the 120 fathom level to ride to the 105 fathom level; it is supposed he got off at the 105 fathom level and lost his light; then the cage was signalled away and the deceased must have stepped into the open side of the shaft as his body was found under the cage which had descended

Treloar, Henry, 05 Dec 1884, aged 21, Miner, killed by a fall of stone

Turner, Thomas, 01 Jun 1899, aged 38, Banksman, Deceased's body was found lying across the top of one of the cages which was fast in the shaft, 200 yards from the surface. No one witnessed the accident, but presumably he had opened the surface gate to look down out of curiosity towards the cage, and, in so doing, fell into the shaft [Inspection made & inquest attended]

Wilson, Edward, 24 Apr 1896, aged 26, Waggoner, He, with another man, had descended to an old level which they were filling up with rubbish from the top. They both got off the cage, and the deceased, having lighted his candle, said he would go down, as usual, to the main level for a lamp. The cage had not been moved in the interim, but he unaccountably walked to the wrong side of the shaft, lifted the rail fence and walked straight into the pit, falling a distance of 44 yards [Inspection made & inquest attended]
