Scott, John Thomas, 06 Nov 1896, aged 57, Shifter, The roof was very treacherous about this place, and deceased was told by the master shifter to take some stone down for the purpose of making a flat or landing. Although the roof appeared good at the time, a prop was set for safety, and when this had to be knocked out he stood close to it with a short hammer, instead of being some distance away, with a long pole or prop [Inspection made & inquest attended]
