Charlton, William, 1912, [approximate date]

      

Donaldson, John, 19 May 1877, (accident: 15 May 1877), aged 51, Screener, crushed between two trucks

      

Ellison, John, 17 Mar 1893, 7:45 a.m., 3rd hour of shift, aged 21, Putter, Deceased was bringing a full tub from the face to the flat, and he was being followed by another putter, who, although having a drag in the wheel, lost control of the tub which ran against the deceased, killing him instantly. It is presumed that, on starting, the drag in the second tub's wheel was not far enough in, and gradually worked out as the tub was in motion [Inquest attended]

McVinnie, Robert, 31 Jul 1901, aged 25, Stoneman, Deceased and his marrow were charging a hole with gunpowder when the latter stuck owing to the hole being too small. They were in the act of forcing the cartridge into the hole by means of a hammer and beater when the charge exploded [Inquest attended]

      

Porteous, James, 05 Jul 1889, aged 29, Hewer, killed by a fall of coal

      

Robinson, William, 25 Jan 1912, aged 24, Motor Lad, coming out-bye at the end of his shift, he was driving a full tub and pony, when he was knocked back by coming in contact with the roof, breaking his back

      

Smith, Walter, 02 Aug 1898, aged 40, Rolleywayman, He had placed his gear on the last tub of the full set, and after sending the landing-boy in-bye with a message rapped it away, and in attempting to get it on to the first tub he fell and was run over. He had no permission to ride on the sets [Inspection made & inquest attended]
