Acton, Patrick, 14 Mar 1914, aged 16, Trailer, Deceased was assisting his father to move a shot, when a stone fell from above the shot and from between two slips, which fractured his neck.

      

Armstrong, -, 17 Sep 1895, Screen boy, left his work and was crossing the Cleator and Workington Railway, when he was run over and so severely injured that he died in about four hours after being taken to the infirmary [fatality reported during the year but not classified as a colliery accident]

      

Atkinson, John, 19 Apr 1899, aged 45, Labourer, By some means or other the deceased fell among the small coal in the washed coal hopper, and was suffocated. The practice of standing upon the coal inside the hopper has now been prohibited [Inspection made & inquest attended]

      

Balance, Thomas, 27 Nov 1900, (accident: 10 May 1899), died as the result of his injuries

Irvine, Robert, 13 Oct 1892, 10:00 a.m., 3rd hour of shift, aged 22, Bencher, Caught by a runaway tub at the bottom of an incline [Inspection made & inquest attended]

      

Kennet, John, 27 Jul 1911, aged 42, Hewer, killed by a fall of stone

      

Kitchin, William Henry, 09 Jan 1908, aged 41, Hewer, fall of coal at working face

      

Mossop, Sharp, 18 Dec 1897, aged 30, Hewer, Deceased was engaged at the longwall face about 3 yards off the gateway. Some blue metal came away between two slips, and killed him. The pack was only 4 feet from the coal, and the place was said to be well timbered [Inspection made & inquest attended]

      

Pascoe, James, 18 Feb 1895, aged 48, Hewer, died suddenly in his working place; an inspection showed that the ventilation was good and there was no reason to suppose that the death was due to other than natural causes [fatality reported during the year but not classified as a colliery accident]

      

Plaskett, John, 16 Jun 1900, aged 23, Roadman, An empty tub, in ascending an incline, slipped on the rope, and running back against the next tub got off the road. The deceased stopped the rope, and with another man proceeded to replace the tub on the road, and in doing so the former went improperly in front of the tub. [Inspection made & inquest attended]
