Allinson, James, 02 Dec 1901, aged 61, Assistant Blaster, A hole had been charged and fired three times, twice with gelignite, and once with powder, and it was about to be fired again with powder, but after putting in 5½ lbs. of powder the chargeman found the hole was wet, so put in 22½ lbs. of gelignite in as well as the powder, and charged, stemmed, and lighted the fuse, which should have run 11 minutes, but before this man could get out of way, the shot, by some means exploded, and he was buried under 300 tons of Whinstone, brought down by the charge, and killed [More information ...]

      

Dent, John, 11 Jun 1902, aged 55, Quarryman, he was alleged to have died from blood poisoning due to an injury received while at work on April 3rd, but at the inquest the jury returned a verdict of "Death from natural causes."
