Eddy, Joseph, 12 Apr 1902, (accident: 10 Apr 1902), aged 53, Rolleyway Man, an endless rope haulage road extends southwards from Mickley Colliery to the Hedley Park workings ; this road is underground for its first portion, then traverses the surface and is again underground ; where it passes over the surface it is enclosed as a protection for cattle, &c. ; on this enclosed road the accident happened ; deceased was adjusting a sleeper and was run over by a set of tubs he had not observed

Glaister, William, 16 Aug 1893, 10:30 a.m., 4th hour of shift, aged 15, Driver, He was found dead on the road in front of some tubs. It transpired after the accident that the deceased had been unwell on the previous day and had fallen off the "set," and it is supposed that he had had a fit on the day in question [Inquiries made]

      

Henderson, Thomas, 1944, [approximate date]

      

Hepple, John, 17 Mar 1914, (accident: 14 Mar 1914), aged 28, Hewer, Deceased was on a full tub riding outbye along an endless rope engine plane, and was knocked off by catching the roof. He was found lying in the travelling way with his spine fractured, and died 3 days later. Riding on the full tubs had become a general practice, and probably had not been prohibited.

      

Hogg, George, 13 Jun 1889, aged 66, Labourer, while making foundations for an engine was injured by falling from a plank, died afterwards

Latham, John Dryden, 12 Jul 1912, aged 48, Hewer, deceased's working place was a headways 8 ft. in width; he was sitting about 9 ft. from the face waiting for an empty tub when a stone fell between the props and headtrees killing him instantly

Taylor, John William, 30 Jul 1902, aged 24, Engineman, deceased was tightening a nut after adjusting the position of a dynamo, when the key slipped off the nut and he fell on to the driving ropes and was carried on to a 14-feet wheel ; the dynamo formed part of a plant used for driving a ventilating fan, and had only been at work a day or two
