Atkinson, William Edward, 25 Jan 1912, aged 36, Incline Man, his duty was to couple the full trucks together as they were delivered to him and then to steady the train to the weigh machine; he had not completed his train but was still engaged in coupling, when he was seen to fall down, when about a yard from any truck; he was found to be unconscious and died almost immediately; the doctor stated at the inquest that several ribs were fractured and driven into his lungs, but the cause of the injuries could not be ascertained

      

Bill, Ronald, 21 Mar 1960, (accident: 16 Mar 1960), aged 37, Deputy, checking props, one too short, managed to save the life of one man before the roof fell on him; taken to Middlesbrough General Hospital where he died 5 days later

Featherstone, John, 05 Dec 1899, aged 46, Miner, The deputy had cut a baulk hole and was waiting for deceased to take a shot off preparatory to cutting the hole on the opposite side. Fletcher, John W. B., 19 Feb 1914, aged 15, Shale Picker, deceased was not feeling well, and he got leave to go home during the third hour of the shift; he took an unauthorised short cut across the railway in a cutting, and was caught and run over by a locomotive; he either failed to notice the presence of the locomotive, or, having noticed it, tried and failed to cross the line in front of it

Opie, Alfred, 23 Aug 1909, aged 16, Driver, He was leading a horse when it pulled him down. Before he could get clear the first tub of the set ran on to him. The horse was a timid one, but not vicious. The road was level and wide and free from obstructions

      

Pringle, John, 04 Sep 1913, aged 44, Miner, he was filling a wagon at the corner of a place just turning away in whole ground, when a large stone burst away from the corner owing to a sudden top weight coming on; the place had been examined an hour previously, and there appeared to be no reason to apprehend such an occurrence

     

Sampson, John, 02 Jan 1900, (accident: 18 Dec 1899), aged 44, Shot Firer, His head was cut slightly by a fall of small sharp piece of stone off the face. Nothing was thought of the injury at the time, but erysipelas set in, and he died on January 2nd, 1900., Buried: Skelton Cemetery
