| | | | | | | Jackson, George Walker, 03 Mar 1905, aged 22, Miner, A nearly vertical vein of ore 18 inches wide in slate rock was being worked, and in order to make a roadway 18 inches of the country rock was removed on the left or hanging cheek in which a hole had been drilled and was charged and nearly stemmed when a mass of stone which it was intended to shoot down between the drill hole and the hanging cheek, measuring 5 feet by 1½ feet by 1½ feet, fell away without any warning from a concealed parting at the top and a visible parting at the side, and caught deceased. The place had been visited by an official during the shift and he thought it was safe |
