|
1845, Aug 23 - On Saturday, upwards of forty workmen, belonging to Job’s Hill colliery, were regaled with an excellent supper, at the house of Mr. George Linton, the Horse Shoe Inn, Crook, provided by their worthy masters, Messrs. Coulthard, of Gateshead, on the completion of their contract for sinking the above colliery, which has been carried down to the depth of 65 fathoms within a short period, without the slightest accident. Great credit is due to the workmen as well as masters for their steady conduct and good behaviour during the time they have been so employed. |
