Please note that this collection of names is by no means complete!

Bird, William, 21 Jun 1890, 9:30 a.m., 2nd hour of shift, aged 45, Rockman, fall of slate rock; deceased knew this piece of rock was bad and tried to bar it down on the day before the accident, but not being able to do so he set his mate to bore a hole in it to blast it down, and was working underneath it when it fell, killing him instantly

Pauling, William, 16 Jul 1895, 2:00 p.m., 7th hour of shift, aged 34, Miner, fall of roof on roadway; a shot had been fired in the roof and the men left the working for dinner; as they were returning, several pieces of rock fell, killing Pauling on the spot and injuring another man; the rock which fell was known to be slightly "struck," and earlier in the morning a futile attempt had been made to take it down
