Craghill, John, 18 Sep 1902, aged 56, Shiftman, deceased and several others were sitting together in the mine when he dropped his lamp and falling forward expired ; no inquest held ; deceased was known to suffer from heart disease

Graham, William, 23 Oct 1894, 3:30 p.m., 10th hour of shift, aged 32, Carpenter, Whilst engaged in the shaft the winding rope broke, and he fell to the bottom [Inspection made & inquest attended] [More information ...]

      

Hodgson, J., 29 Mar 1889, aged 23, Hewer, explosion of powder

      

Ireland, Hannah Mary, 11 Mar 1899, (accident: 01 Mar 1899), aged 17, Coal Picker, While improperly passing across a coal picking belt in motion, the deceased fell on the edge of the frame, and received injuries from which she died on March 11th [Inspection made & inquest attended]

      

Johnstone, Benjamin, 23 Aug 1886, aged 25, Hewer, killed by a fall of coal

      

Makemson, Joseph, 08 May 1900, aged 21, Engineman, He was in charge of the engine and machinery used for working the screening belts, &c., and after being missed for an hour and a half was found lying across the main driving shaft. He had evidently been oiling the machinery when in motion. [Inspection made & inquest attended]

      

Smith, John, 02 Dec 1892, 7:00 a.m., 2nd hour of shift, aged 40, Hewer, He had been taking some props from under the top coal, when it suddenly fell and caught him before he could get away [Inspection made & inquest attended]

      

Tunstall, John, 17 Feb 1886, aged 20, Hewer, killed by a fall of coal

      

Wilson, William, 18 Mar 1900, aged 22, Banksman, While offering some voluntary assistance to the shaftmen, who were removing the pumps owing to a breakdown, the deceased stepped back into the shaft. [Inspection made & inquest attended]
